Monday 4th july

Monday has been a very busy day for us here at lavenham falconry, cutting grass, cleaning the perches and exciting working with Boris our new Russian steppe Eagle. Its clear to see not much has been done with him in the past and he is like a sponge soaking up everything were teaching him. Boris is now flying approx 50yrds from perch to fist although his fitness is down from sitting on a perch possibly for a long period of time before he came to us.
He is a very dark steppe (Black and Brown so possible his origins stem from Northern Mongolia. The Steppe Eagle breeds from Romania east through the south Russian and Central Asian steppes to Mongolia. The European and Central Asian birds winter in Africa, and the eastern birds in India and can be more golden in colour. Yesterday all the eagles spent 30 minutes under the Lawn sprayer and hose supervised by Harry Charles jr.
Enjoy your day and look our for Boris`s update all this week.
